About

Accessibility statement.

Our commitment to making Bedford Medical Centre — the building and this website — accessible to all patients.

This website

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA.

Bedford Medical Centre is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all patients, including people with disabilities. This website was rebuilt in 2026 to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we test it with automated tools and by keyboard and screen reader.

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a “skip to content” link.
  • Text and background colours meet the AA contrast ratio, and text can be resized to 200% without loss of content.
  • Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels so screen readers can navigate them; images carry text alternatives.
  • Forms have visible labels, clear error messages and no time limits.
  • No content flashes, auto-plays or moves without a way to stop it.
  • The site is available in Irish through the Gaeilge link at the top of every page.

Known limitations

Things we are aware of.

  • The Irish version of the site is produced by machine translation and may contain errors. Where accuracy matters, please refer to the English text or ask us.
  • Online booking, prescriptions and messaging run on the myClinic365 Patient Portal, a third-party service whose accessibility we do not control. If you have difficulty using it, phone reception and we will book for you.
  • Some older PDF leaflets may not be fully accessible. Ask us and we will provide the information in another format.

The clinic

The clinic is a modern purpose-built facility with level access, accessible parking, and accessible toilets. Interpreter and chaperone arrangements can be made on request — please tell reception when booking.

Feedback and alternative formats

If you encounter any accessibility barrier on this website or when visiting the clinic, or need information in large print, easy-read or another format, please contact reception on (046) 902 1369 or write to Bedford Medical Centre, Convent Road, Athlumney, Navan, C15 PD0V. We aim to respond within 5 working days. Our patient charter explains how to give feedback or make a complaint.
